Welcome to the Good Samaritan Health System’s Cardiovascular Services Product Line.  We offer a full range of cardiac services close to home.  The Cardiac Service Product Line was developed in response to findings of the hospital’s community health assessment.

These findings showed that a high percentage of Lebanon County residents with serious cardiovascular disease were being sent to Harrisburg, Hershey, and Lancaster for care.  Our Open heart surgery program began in April 2005 and our cardiac interventional program began in June 2005.

We continue to grow our cardiac services as promised.  In June 2008, Electrophysiology Services (EP) was added to our program.  Over 300 EP procedures have been performed in the EP lab by Dr. Jeff Williams and Dr. Robert Stevenson of Lebanon Cardiology Associates (LCA). Electrophysiology or EP studies are a review of the heart's electrical activity and pathways.  This study helps diagnose abnormal heart rhythms.  The results of the study may lead to additional treatment such as the implantation of a pacemaker, implantable cardioverter defribrillator or an ablation.  Since EP studies can identify abnormal electrical conduction rhythms, the physician may decide to perform an ablation.  This procedure destroys selected, abnormal areas of the heart's conduction system, restoring normal electrical activity.

Our open heart surgery services are unique in that we utilize the universal bed model for the open heart patients.  This allows open heart surgery patients to be admitted and discharged from the same room.  This model also provides consistent care for the patient and eliminates the need to transfer patients to another floor.

We currently provide cardiovascular services in the following areas:

  • Non-invasive services (Heart Station)
  • Cardiac Catheterization Lab (CCL)
  • Cardiovascular Operating Room (CVOR)
  • Cardiovascular Unit (CVU) / Intensive Care Unit (ICU)
  • 3 South
  • Cardiac Rehabilitation
