Nursing Education

Experienced nurses have the opportunity to attend the preceptor program.  The program has been modeled after the Staff Nurse to Preceptor Development Program by AACN.  New hires are paired with experienced preceptors during the new hire orientation period. 
Orientation is individualized based on the person’s background and experience.

As a member of VHA all nursing staff have the opportunity to attend VHA educational broadcasts.  In addition, the education staff provides inservices in various different forms.  Staff also has the opportunity to attend outside conferences.

Tuition Reimbursement

  • Full time employees pursuing a college degree related to health care will be reimbursed 80% of the undergraduate tuition
  • Part time employees will be reimbursed 40%

Be a Nurse Program
This benefit program is intended to support and encourage all employees of the hospital who are or plan to enroll in an Associate Degree academic program to become a Registered Nurse.   To learn more about this program, click here.

RN to BSN Program – On Site
RNs who wish to pursue their BSN will have this opportunity at the GSH.  Immaculata University will be holding classes at the hospital again this fall.  To learn more click here.

Tuition Forgiveness
This benefit is intended to support and encourage recruitment and retention of Graduate Nurses and other newly graduated professional clinical staff as identified by the Human Resources Department, who become employees of The Good Samaritan Hospital.  To learn more about this program, click here.
