Minimally Invasive Gynecological Surgical Procedures.

Helping Women Get Back to Their Lives Fast.

At Good Samaritan we understand that women have special needs. That’s why we have partnered with Women’s Health Center of Lebanon to offer two new minimally invasive gynecological surgical procedures that will not only get busy women back on their feet fast, but with little to no scarring. Gynecological surgery for hysterectomy and urinary incontinence which previously required large incisions that resulted in lengthy hospital stays, painful wounds and permanent scars can now be done as an outpatient procedure thanks to new advances in surgical techniques offered by Good Samaritan and Women’s Health Center of Lebanon.

Laparoscopic Hysterectomy

Conditions such as adhesions, endometriosis and fibroids sometimes require a hysterectomy. If your doctor has recommended you have a hysterectomy you now have the option of minimally invasive surgery. Today women can benefit from our laparoscopic approach to hysterectomy which requires only small incisions for operating, versus the old hip-to-hip incision typical with abdominal hysterectomy. The benefit is a much shorter hospital stay (usually less than 24 hours), less pain, less blood loss, less infection risk, and quicker return to normal activities. Most hysterectomies can be handled in this manner.

GYNECARE TVT™

Urinary incontinence is a very common and embarrassing problem for women and often goes untreated. Stress urinary incontinence is leakage of urine that occurs with physical stress such as when you laugh, cough, sneeze, exercise or lift something heavy. There are several different reasons for urinary incontinence; some are caused by a weakening of the pelvic floor muscles. This weakening is typically the result of pregnancy and childbirth, chronic heavy lifting or straining, menopause, obesity or smoking.

A new procedure using the GYNECARE TVT™ Tension-free Support for Incontinence is a minimally invasive 30 minute, outpatient procedure with proven results for effectively treating stress urinary incontinence. The GYNECARE TVT™ supports the urethra the way your body was designed to and stops urine leakage. During the procedure the doctor inserts a ribbon-like strip of mesh beneath the urethra to provide support during physical stress, preventing urine leakage.

Recovery from TVT™ surgery is quick and patients typically return home within 24 hours and resume most daily activities quickly. Most patients experience immediate results with significantly less or no leakage and many patients reported they still had significantly less leakage even after 11 years. If you suffer from urinary incontinence you’re not alone. Nearly 45 percent of women in the U.S. suffer from some degree of urinary incontinence. But you no longer have to.
