Evaluate, analyze and maintain an accurate and meaningful Coding database for the hospital services, reflective of patient mix and resource use through monitoring of coding compliance in accordance with the Office of Inspector General’s Work Plan, education, CMS, state regulatory agencies, and internal audits and systems.
Day Shift with flexibility
Work requires knowledge of principles generally obtained through completion of a bachelor’s or associate degree program. RHIT, RHIA, CCS or CPC required (credentials eligible considered) Prefer coding/auditing experience in acute care facility with a thorough understanding of compliance, coding and auditing principles as they relate to billing and reimbursement. Proficient in 3 or more patient type acute care coding preferred. Thorough knowledge of billing/reimbursement requirements for coding. An understanding of anatomy, physiology, medical terminology, disease processes and surgical techniques to effectively apply ICD-9-CM and HCPCS/CPT coding guidelines to inpatient/ambulatory services diagnoses and procedures. Complete understanding of CMS regulations as they relate to the coding and billing process; such as Medical Necessity, modifier applicability, CCI and OCE edits, etc. Medical Terminology and Anatomy and Physiology required. Attained by courses or equivalent work experience.
