How do I get started?
If you are interested in a Nursing Career, you can “shadow” a professional at The Good Samaritan Hospital.  High School students should contact their guidance office.  If you are not a High School student, contact The Good Samaritan Hospital Educational Services Department at 717-270-7759.  Many nurses begin their career as a nursing assistant.

Do you have flexible scheduling?
Yes.  Staff have the opportunity to work 4, 8, and 12 hour shifts to help meet the needs of the employee as well as the hospital.

Do you have a shift differential?
Yes.  Evenings and night shifts have a 10% differential.

Do you have a Weekend Program?
Yes.  This option is available to RNs who prefer to work weekends. To learn more about the weekend options, click here.

What type of orientation do you provide?
Nursing orientation is tailored to the individual.  Orientation can extend to 12 weeks if needed.  New hires are paired with a trained preceptor.  Goals and objectives are established with the preceptor, educator, and nurse manager.

Do you have a flex/perdiem program?
Yes. 

Do I have to be a Certified Nursing Assistant?
No.  However, we can assist nursing assitants to become certified.  Educational services arranges with CNA training sites for participation in a specific course.  Full time employees are eligible.

What shift rotations do you have?
All staff rotate to an off shift from day shift.  Positions are available for primarily evening or primarily nights.

Do I have to work weekends?
Yes.  All staff rotate every other weekend.
