What type of obstetrical training will I receive
in this program?
- Five faculty members trained in OB practice and
teach OB. They are available for antepartum management, OB procedures and
delivery techniques
- Faculty availability at all deliveries
- Personal office continuity patients to manage during
antepartum, delivery and postpartum
- Rotations through outpatient facilities with
exposure to management of high risk patients
- Interaction with private OB/GYN practice;
opportunity to assist with Cesarean sections and forceps deliveries.

Is procedure training emphasized in the program?
Yes!
- First year training in suturing and ALSO, BLS, ACLS,
ATLS and Neonatal Resuscitation Courses
- Second year - 2 week block of focused training in
flexible sigmoidoscopy, nasolaryngoscopy, colposcopy, minor surgery, joint
injection technique, casting and splinting, Simulation Lab Experience

- Office days reserved in second and third years for
one-on-one procedure training
What's call like in the program?
- Medicine/pediatrics and obstetrical inpatient
services are covered after hours and weekends by an in-house team consisting of
one first year resident and one senior resident.
- A "night float" system exists consisting of one
senior resident and one intern from Sunday through Friday morning; the residents
on night float have no other rotation responsibilities during these two-week
blocks of night float assignment.
- Interns and second year residents will have 3
two-week assignments each academic year; third year residents are assigned 2
two-week blocks.
- Call for the remaining Friday and Saturday evenings
is distributed amongst those residents not performing night float duties; first
year residents take approximately 2 days of in-house call per month in months
when they are not on night float. Senior residents take approximately 1 day of
in-house call per month in months when they are not on night float.
