About Us

The Penn State University / The Good Samaritan Hospital Family & Community Medicine Residency Program is a small university sponsored, community hospital based program located in the beautiful rolling hills of Southeastern Pennsylvania. We are the only residency program in our hospital, in our community, and in our rural county of 128,900 people. Our program is fully accredited by the ACGME.

We offer 8 positions per year, and have a total complement of 24 residents. Candidates should apply to our program through the National Residency Matching Program by way of the ERAS system.

Our residents obtain "front-line", hands on, direct patient care experiences throughout their training under the direction of exceptional, clinically oriented faculty, who have had private practice experience. Our program currently has a full time equivalent of 10 faculty physicians and one behavioral scientist.

We spend considerable effort in familiarizing each new resident to the people in our program and to our community and to the unique health needs of the population we serve. The goal each July is to rapidly involve our new residents in every aspect of patient care responsibility, as new members of our group practices.
